Through the Academic Activities Program and Publications the Department of State intends to promote the organization of events, meetings, conferences and symposia, among others, to serve as broad discussion of public policy issues and internationalization, and encourage the participation in events and in regional and international organizations in and outside Puerto Rico for the scientific, academic and cultural cooperation and exchange.

Furthermore, it focuses in promoting the publication of books, theses, dissertations, presentations and other works that address issues of great public interest, such as external relations; global and local economy of the United States and abroad; local and foreign historical figures; globalization; science and technology; History of Puerto Rico; commercial, cultural and migratory relations between the Caribbean countries; international politics; international conflicts; regional and global political and economic trends, among others.

For academic activities as for publications the School of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs may create advisory committees composed of academics, citizens, professionals and students, among others, to help in the selection of topics, events and alternative publications as with coordinating activities. It could also reach collaboration agreements with organizations and institutions for these same purposes.-OE 2013-07
